Eve Room review

The Eve Room Indoor Air Quality Monitor doesn’t look like much, but it gives accurate readings on air quality, temperature and humidity levels inside your home. Why do you need to know any of this? Well frankly outside of the temperature reading I guess you don’t.

But with HomeKit enabled features at least you can have all the info at your fingertips via an iPhone or iPad. Or of course you can ask Siri to tell you about the current state of your environment. The Eve app is very in-depth, in fact it’s almost too complicated for me. I tend to just glance at the HomeKit app if I really want to quickly see some basic data.

The low energy e-ink display is surrounded by an anodised aluminium body. The device is small enough to easily fit into the palm of your hand, it measures just 5.4cm x 4.4cm x 1.5cm. To change the actual display there’s two haptic arrows on each side of the device so you can tailor what info is most prominent.

Like all of the Eve products this is a Bluetooth connected device, there’s no Wi-Fi connectivity at all. Power is supplied by a built-in USB rechargeable battery that lasts for up to six weeks. You’ll need iOS 11.4 or later.

The biggest problem I had was where to actually put the device, I thought about sticking it to a wall in the living room, but for the time being it’s in my sons’ room. My wife is always worried about poor little Henry, now at least we don’t need to debate how hot or cold it is.

The Eve Room is simple, inoffensive to look at and quite sophisticated. But at $179.95 it’s a very extravagant purchase, even for an Apple fan. Look for it in the Apple Store.
