Recently I drove the Alpine A110 for a week, I proceeded to basically chew off the ear of anyone who would listen about how good it was. Well today comes news that the little flyer has won a Good Design Award in the Product Designed category.
The 61stGood Design Awards praised the Alpine A110 for its outstanding design and innovation. The Alpine A110 received the award for Exterior Design in the Product Design – Automotive and Transport category.
The jury said: “This is a smart and stylish sportscar that not only pays homage to Alpine’s history but delivers in terms of performance and design. Clever use of materials minimise weight, which in turn aids performance and fuel consumption. It’s a beautiful looking machine, yet uncompromising in its ability to deliver a true sports car experience. Inside, the use of materials continues the design-led theme form the exterior.”
Anouk Poelmann, Renault Australia Managing Director said. “This Good Design Award is yet further proof that the designers of the Alpine A110 achieved the challenge of designing a car that boasted modern technology and expertise while remaining true to the car’s unique and loved heritage,”
“The Alpine A110 is a true design of French-style and elegance which above all places emphasis on agile performance and driving enjoyment without compromising every day comfort.”
Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “Receiving a Good Design Award at this level is a significant achievement given the very high calibre of entries received this year.”
“Australia’s Good Design Award is more than a symbol of design excellence; it represents the hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that will ultimately improve our quality of life. These projects showcase the brilliance of design and the potential it has to improve our world.”
Told you it was good.
