Bridgestone rolls out new efficient tyre

Bridgestone ranks very highly when it comes to one vital area, trust. SUV driving Australians who pay attention to the rubber around their rims will be keen to hear about this. The brand has launched the new Ecopia H/L 001 low-rolling resistance tyre, specifically for SUVs. It now becomes the successor to the popular EP850.

The Ecopia H/L 001 is said to deliver longer wear life, enhanced handling and braking performance plus dollars at the bowser.

Bridgestone Australia’s Sales Director, Heath Barclay, said.“There is no denying the rise of SUVs in Australia, and we are committed to ensuring we have the right products to suit the needs of Australian motorists, today and into the future. The introduction of the new H/L 001 is part of delivering on our commitment,”

“Last year, SUVs accounted for just under half a million of new car sales in Australia, and as it stands, they are on track to outsell hatches and sedans in 2019. That’s why the Ecopia H/L 001 is such a timely new product.”

I learnt a lot at a rather spirited drive day at Philip Island this year about what goes into a tyre. For example, the new tread design for the H/L 001’s improves the ‘contact patch’ with the road via an optimised crown shape. Rounded rib edges and what are called chamfering sipes aid braking performance, in the wet especially. Don’t ever look at a tyre as just a piece of rubber, the science behind it is astounding these days.

“Motorists expect a safe, long-lasting and comfortable tyre, and Bridgestone’s new Ecopia H/L 001 delivers on all fronts, with the benefit of saving fuel as well,”Mr Barclay added.

The Ecopia H/L 001 was tested here extensively to suit local conditions.

Bridgestone’s Ecopia H/L 001 is available in 25 sizes spanning 16 to 19 inches. This means all the big models such as the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-3, Ford Escape, Toyota Kluger, Honda CR-V and more can be fitted with the new effort.

It’s available through Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Service Centre stores, as well as other reputable tyre retailers.
