Ring’s latest doorbell brings smarts to your peephole for $299

Security camera company, Ring, has today announced their Door View Cam is now available in Australia.

The Ring Door View Cam is the fifth generation of wire-free video doorbell to be released, but rather than replacing your doorbell, the Door View Cam is a high-tech peephole.

The camera features a 1080p resolution FullHD video sensor, which includes night vision, as well as two-way audio, and motion detection. The Door View Cam also has knock detection, so you can tell when someone is at the door even if they don’t press the button, and privacy zones allow you full control of the security around your home.

The Door View Cam is wireless, running on a battery pack, making it perfect for rentals, with Ring saying it installs easily in apartments, or homes with an existing ‘door viewer’.

Paired with the Ring app, available on Android and iOS, the Door View Cam will alert you to activity anywhere you have connectivity. You can also pair the camera with a Chime in your home to get more local notification when there’s someone at the door.

Owned by Amazon, the entire Ring range works with Alexa – with Alexa able to notify you when someone is at your door and then allow you to see, hear, and talk to visitors with selected Echo devices.

The Ring Door View Cam is available from today for $299 from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee and Bunnings Warehouse, as well as online from Ring and Amazon.com.au.
