Yeah Yeah, Aldi Special Buy – I know what you’re thinking – but hear me out. Much like their TVs are probably some of the most outstanding bang for your buck out there, this weekend they’ve got a bunch of gaming gear that’s worth a look.
Now it’s all centred around their “Gaming PC”. Medion is the usual PC brand you’ll find at Aldi, but this time its “erazer” a very familiar sounding gaming brand name. Medion is the guts, but it’s normal for a PC brand to throw in a new brand name for the gaming market.
This is a $1999 purchase, and that’s a hell of a lot of money for a PC, but it’s in the ballpark for a good level gaming rig.
Just the graphics card alone is worth $900, and that’s right up there in terms of the important components when it comes to gaming.
Powered by an Intel Core i5 processor with a 512GB SSD and a 1TB HDD along with 16GB of RAM, this is probably right on the money for the level of specs you’d want in your gaming gear.
For those wanting to jump out of the console world and into PC for the streaming, or the higher levels of configuration – it’s ideal.
The case comes with enclosed sides, but in the box is a clear side wall so you can see into the RGB lit inner workings of this PC. Flicking through the colours you’re going to want to game with the lights down.
Included is a very basic mouse, but a decent very mechanical RGB light-up keyboard is also available at ALDI for $79.99. I’d buy the mouse also for just $49.99.
Then there’s the headphones – for $69.99 they are excellent. Very soft on the ears, lightweight, but a great sound, volume controls in-line.
It’s a hell of a lot more than your weekly shop at Aldi, and yes, you could probably build this PC for $1600 or so if you did it yourself, but someone looking at Gaming PCs at ALDI ain’t in the world of PC building.
Great value, excellent performance, it’s a solid 8/10 Gaming PC and that is saying a lot about what you’re walking out of Aldi with frankly.
Bottom line, if it’s in your consideration and in your budget, do it – there won’t be regret.
There is also a 27 inch QHD monitor for $379 – we didn’t test that, but the 144Hz should offer a decent gaming expereience.
