Apple’s new Airpods may just hit the spot – Airpods Pro are $399

First and foremost, who said Apple can’t keep a secret? No one saw that coming. Early this morning Aussie time and Apple drops a new product.

The Airpods, Apple Say, are “the best-selling headphones in the world.” That’s saying something. But as you know, they’re not my cup of tea – two key reasons, the fit doesn’t work, and that white stalk pointing out is so long!

Enter the Airpods Pro which at a glance look like they solve those problems and add some pretty epic features.

Active Noise Cancelling. Yep, these are full-blown noise-cancelling headphones. At $399 they sit right alongside Sony’s pair too on price and features.

They are also Sweat and offer water resistance – just the sweat drips and rain kind, not swimming – but still, that’s a leg up from Airpods.

Listening time is down by 30 mins according to the specs, which is actually impressive given the noise-cancelling.

But here’s my favourite bit of the announcement – Fit Test. Here’s how Apple describe it:

The Ear Tip Fit Test helps ensure users get the best audio experience from AirPods Pro by testing the quality of the seal and identifying the best ear tip size for them. After placing AirPods Pro in each ear, advanced algorithms work together with the microphones in each AirPod to measure the sound level in the ear and compare it to what is coming from the speaker driver. In just seconds, the algorithm detects whether the ear tip is the right size and has a good fit, or should be adjusted to create a better seal.

I like the look of them – can’t wait to try them out!
