Asus’ ROG Zephyrus G14 and G15 gaming laptops announced with AMD Ryzen processors

Gamers around the world who enjoy high-end PC gaming on the move will be taking note with Asus announcing new Republic of Gamers (ROG) Zephyrus laptops at CES.

There are two models – G14 and G15 – with the laptops both powered by high-end AMD Ryzen processors, an AMD Ryzen 4000 Series Mobile Processor with a GeForce RTX 2060 GPU graphics for the G14, while the G15 gets a AMD Ryzen 7 processor with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU bundled in.

For the G14, Asus has gone all out with options for either a Full HD display that offering refresh rates up to 120Hz or a higher WQHD resolution display at 60Hz.

The lid of the laptop housing the display also incorporates a new feature, an AniMe Matrix display composed of 1,215 mini LEDs which can display animated GIFs and other graphics or text messages, or even visualise music or other audio.

The laptop includes options for up to 32GB of fast DDR4-3200 RAM and an NVMe SSD with up to 1TB of capacity to ensure there’s no speed lost waiting for a hard drive to spin up. You’ll be able to game for a fair stretch too with over 10 hours of battery life.

The G14 includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, and for connecting things you’ll find two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C ports, with one offering support for DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery. You get dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A ports, and a HDMI 2.0b port for video out. Finally, a 3.5mm jack can take a combo headphone/microphone.

Asus’ G15 comes with a slightly bigger 15.6-inch display which comes in two specs, either a 240Hz with 3ms response display, or a 144Hz display.

Under the hood you’ll get up to 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM to go with that Ryzen processor, and either 1 TB or 512 GB of SSD storage.

Asus has announced that the Zephyrus G14/G15 will be heading to Australia in April via their usual channel partners, with final specs and pricing to be announced closer to launch.

Asus has also announced a new range of ROG Gaming Laptop Displays. The laptop panels feature ultrafast 300Hz refresh rates on the 14-inch panels with HDR. Asus has said that the panels are PANTONE validated with superb colour fidelity.

Asus is showing one of their 300Hz panels out in the the ultra-slim Zephyrus GX701 and Strix SCAR III gaming laptops on the show floor at CES.
