Motorola launches Moto G8 with ultra-wide camera – coming to Australia soon

After launching the Moto G8 Plus in October last year, Motorola has today announced the Moto G8, confirming that the phone will be heading to Australia in the coming weeks.

The phone comes with mid-range specs that include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage (yes, it has a microSD card slot too) and a 6.4-inch HD+ display that has a punch-hole notch hiding an 8MP selfie camera. Motorola has also included the same massive 4,00mAh battery found in the G8 Plus which I found offered true all-day battery life on that phone.

Motorola hasn’t forgotten cameras on the Moto G8, with a 16MP main sensor paired with a 2MP sensor with macro lens and an 8MP sensor with 118° ultra-wide angle lens on the rear. Motorola says you’ll get up to 4x more in the shot with their ultra-wide lens and you’ll get up to 5x closer with the Macro lens making the camera setup on this phone a pretty versatile system – but obviously we’ll have to test it out when it arrives on our shores.

Specs:

Display:6.4-inch, HD+ resolution, single hole-punch
Processor:Qualcomm Snapdragon 665
RAM:4GB
Storage:64GB storage with microSD card (up to 512GB)
Rear Camera:16MP (f/1.7, 1.12μm)
2MP Macro lens (f/2.2, 1.75μm)
8MP with 118° wide-angle lens f/2.2, 1.12μm)
Front Camera:8MP
Misc:Headphone jack, USB-C, Fingerprint Scanner
OS:Android 10
Dimensions:161x75x8.95mm, 188g
Battery:4000mAh, 10W charging

Motorola has confirmed the phone will be coming to Australia – as well as the Europe, Latin America and Asian markets – in the coming weeks , although you can buy one today in Brazil. There’s two colour options coming, Blue and White, but we’ll have to wait for Motorola Australia to confirm local availability.
