We love a good Aldi Special Buy and this week’s offer is something pretty cool. A record player! They’re marketing it as a “Turntable with Detachable Speakers” because it’s an all-in-one solution.
At $99 this really is a special buy. Out of the box it’s everything you need to play your old records, or you can buy a few at Aldi and JB HiFi still have a solid range of Vinyl records on offer.
The speakers are included, and plug right into the back using an RCA connector, power goes in and you’re good to go.
While I spent a few seconds wondering where the power switch was, I quickly worked out the volume dial acts as an on/off switch too. Easy.
Set your record speed at 78, 45 or 33, and raise the arm. Move it over, lower the arm and boom you’re off and running.
I listened to some Guns n Roses, and some Dean Martin – the Gunners is a live show which really challenges the system, but the vibe you get from it is pretty bloody good for $99.
I think the remastered vinyl on offer at Aldi is probably the weakest link – so dust off your old collection or pick up some new stuff from JB – and set this little turntable off.
A great way to introduce your kids to how music should be – not on shuffle and get off your arse to change tracks:)
