Stan commits to expanded Originals programming over the next five years

While there might not be much new TV production going on right now during the pandemic, things are ramping up and the streaming wars are a big part of that. Today, Aussie streaming service Stan announced an expansion of their local and original production slate.

Relying on parent company Nine Entertainment’s deep TV production capabilities, Stan will focus its production capabilities to accelerate the release of new and Original productions for Stan.

And it’s not just one or two shows, Stan is talking about over 30 productions per year over the next five years!

Described as a “major investment strategy”, according to the announcement “Nine will direct the focus of its own production capabilities towards the acceleration of original productions for Stan.”

Boss of Stan Mike Sneesby said “Stan continues to experience significant growth, reaching a scale that is delivering strong positive cash flow. As part of our strategy to bring the world’s best content to Australians, we will shift greater investment into Stan Original productions through our local and international partnerships. This strategy is further bolstered by Nine’s production capabilities as we maximise the efficiency of our content investment across the group’s market leading television platforms.”
