Acer Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptops powered by Intel 11th Gen processors are coming to Australia soon

After chip maker Intel announced their latest generation CPUs last week, OEMs have begun announcing their upcoming models. Acer has announced their first laptops, the Swift 3 and Swift 5 powered by the new processors, with the Swift 5 verified as an Intel Evo Platform Notebook.

Both the Swift 3 and Swift 5 will go on-sale in Australia, with the Swift 5 due in November, with the Swift 3 due after. Both the Swift 3 and Swift 5 will be powered by the latest 11th Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs with Iris Xe graphics, as well as including Thunderbolt 4 support and Wifi 6.

The Swift 5 has been certified as an Intel Evo design, which is Intel’s new certification program that ensures the laptop meets a performance and hardware criteria. Acer says the Swift 3 has been certified for Project Athena – the forerunner to Evo certification, with a view to getting it Evo certified as well.

There will be two new Swift 3 models inbound, one with a 13.5-inch display and the other with a 14-inch display. Not a lot more is known about the specs beyond that it will have a ‘backlit keyboard, utilise fast and reliable SSD storage and support up to 16GB of LPDDR4X memory. In addition, both include Windows Hello via a fingerprint reader for easy and more secure logins’.

The Swift 5 will use a 14-inch display covered with a layer of Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass. The Swift 5 will impress anyone with all-day use, with Acer promising up to 17 hours of battery life. The Swift 5 is being positioned as an ultrathin-and-light notebook, with the unit weighing in at just 1Kg.

No Australian  pricing has been announced for the Swift 3 or Swift 5 as yet, though US pricing for the units sees the Swift 5 is priced starting at $999 USD, while the Swift 3 starts at $699 USD.
