Oppo Reno4 series with 5G comes to Australia starting at under $600

As 5G networks roll out in Australia, it’s time to start looking at phones that take advantage of the new technology. OPPO is trying to bring 5G to more people with their new Reno4 range launching in Australia next month starting at just $599.

OPPO has today begun taking pre-orders for the 5G enabled Reno4 Z ($599) and the Reno4 ($799) with stock expected at retailers from October 12th. The pricing is right, though OPPO is making sure to include their ‘innovative camera modes, fast charge and high-end displays’ on these very affordable smartphones.

Speaking of the new series announcement, OPPO Australia Managing Director, Michael Tran said, “Our Reno Series continues to redefine what is possible with a smartphone and making industry-leading technologies accessible to all. Packed full of the latest features, state-of-the-art camera technology and processing power, we’re continuing to deliver our users with premium devices and experiences for less.

Reno4 Z

At $599 the Reno4 Z ticks the mid-range pricing box, but still includes premium hardware.

OPPO has managed to achieve the lower price point on the Reno4 Z by using the MediaTek Dimensity 800 chip which includes 5G support. The phone still includes a premium 6.5-inch FullHD resolution LCD Display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s also a 4000mAh battery with 18W fast charging technology to top you up fast when you need it.

OPPO includes six cameras on their Reno 4, two (16MP main sensor with a 2MP depth sensor) on the front in a double-spaced punch hole notch, and four on the rear. The rear camera array includes a 48MP main sensor with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and dual 2MP (Depth and Macro) sensors included as well.

In terms of colour options, OPPO is offering the Reno 4 Z in two colours: Dew White and Ink Black.

Reno4 5G

Heading into the higher end category, OPPO is also offering their Reno4 5G for 9. The phone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor which offers 5G+Wi-Fi dual-channel networking capabilities.

The Reno4 5G ticks down to a 60Hz refresh rate on the 6.4-inch display however you get a better quality AMOLED display for deeper blacks and more vibrant colours.

The phone also includes 8GB RAM and 128GB of on-board storage, however OPPO are including 65W VOOC Fast Charging on the Reno 4 5G which can charge the 4000mAh battery to 60% in just 15 minutes.

On the photography side, OPPO is offering a triple camera array on the rear with a 48MP main sensor, 8MP sensor with ultra-wide 119˚ field of view, and a 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera gets a nice bump up to 32MP, and it too has a 2MP depth sensor to ensure your Bokeh is perfect.

OPPO is offering the Reno 4 5G in two colours: Galactic Blue and Space Black.

Where to pre-order?

OPPO will begin selling the Reno 4 Z for 9 on October 12th, while the Reno 4 5G will sell for 9. The phones will be available online and in-store from JB Hi-Fi, MobileCiti, Bing Lee, Amazon, Woolworths and OfficeWorks – though Officeworks aren’t offering pre-orders.

Getting your pre-order in is a good idea though, with a pair of Enco True Wireless Earphones on offer for both phones. Those pre-ordering the Reno 4 5G will get a pair of Enco W31 TWS earphones  (RRP 9), while those pre-ordering the Reno 4 Z will get a pair of Enco W11 TWS earphones (RRP 9).
