DJI Pocket 2 – the ultimate handheld gimbal gets a range of enhancements and accessories

DJI’s 2020 product rollout continues with an all-new version of what was called the Osmo Pocket, now known as the DJI Pocket 2.

For many the GoPro is the only consideration when it comes to personal filming, but in fact the DJI Pocket 2 is the way to go. Handheld, stabilised, and really more of a point and shoot with smarts – the DJI Pocket 2 is an underrated concept and product.

Critically, the new Pocket 2 has a range of accessories to really enhance the use of this device. From a wireless microphone to a wide angle lens there’s so many options for creators.

Assuming it follows it’s predecessor, the DJI Pocket 2 will be easy to use and understand, but it will also feature serious pro mode features like ISO, Shutter Speed and focus modes.

Capable of tracking a subject, improvements to that software come in the new ActiveTrack 3.0.

Plus there’s timelapses, Hyperlapse and Panoramas for a huge range of shooting modes.

For those with an audience, you can use the DJI Pocket 2 Livestream to Facebook, YouTube or an RTMP stream.

Broadly speaking the improvements are incremental, however, it seems the versatility of the product is the standout, allowing for a huge range of accessories to enhance the creative uses of the device.

All that weighing just 117 grams!

Perhaps the most critical upgrade is the DJI Pocket 2 sensor – sure it’s under the hood, but the larger 1/1.7″ sensor captures more in better quality, the 20mm f/1.8 lens gives a great look and can record in 4K 60fps as well as the addition of HDR.
