Microsoft announces new Surface Go Laptop and Surface Pro X tablet – available to pre-order now

The second half of 2020 has evolved product launches to either highly produced videos, or blog posts. It’s a blog post that Microsoft has chosen to go with for the launch off their new Surface Laptop Go and Surface X tablet overnight.

Microsoft last refreshed their Surface hardware in May, with new Surface Go 2, Surface Book 3 but the new Surface Laptop Go is a more budget friendly option, while the Surface  Pro X tablet updates the previous model with new, faster internals.

Surface Laptop Go

The Surface Laptop Go includes a 12.4-inch ‘PixelSense’ touchscreen, full-size keyboard and is powered by Intel’s 10th Gen i5 Quad-Core processor with up to 16GB RAM and 256GB storage.

There’s a built-in 720p HD camera and Studio Mics and Dolby Audio surround, with an audio jack for conveniences. There’s also both USB-A and USB-C ports, as well as the Surface connector.

Microsoft says the laptop includes a battery capable of up to 13 hours of use, and it also includes fast charging.

The design is just as sleek as other entries in the Microsoft Surface range, with the laptop made from lightweight, durable metal. The Surface Go laptop will be available in three finishes: Ice Blue, Sandstone and Platinum.

The laptop includes a Windows Hello compatible fingerprint sensor in the power button for security, which also works for quickly accessing OneDrive Personal Vault files.

Pricing for the Surface Laptop Go starts at $999 on the Microsoft Australia online store now, with a number of personalisation options available. Microsoft is promising to ship the new Surface Laptop Go from the 13th of October 2020.

Surface Pro X Tablet

The Surface Pro X Tablet updates last year’s model with a new version of their custom designed processor. The Microsoft/Qualcomm designed SQ2 processor, is based on ARM architecture which ties into Microsoft’s announcement earlier this week about better Windows 10 compatibility on ARM.

The Surface Pro X comes with a 13” Full HD+ resolution PixelSense Display 16GB of DDR4 RAM and options for either 256 or 512GB SSD storage. The Surface Pro X includes a decent battery life, with Microsoft advising you’ll get up to 15 hours of battery life.

The new Surface Pro X Tablet includes LTE support with a Nano-SIM, and comes in a new Platinum finish. The new finish will see new accessories launched like the Signature Keyboard shipping in Platinum, Ice Blue and Poppy Red,  with the same charging and storage for the Surface Slim Pen included.a

You can start configuring the Surface Pro X tablet on the Microsoft Australia online store now where the pricing starts at $1,699. Surface Pro X will go on-sale on October 13th, so head over and check it out now.
