At CES today Lenovo has announced their new range of Legion gaming laptops, and ThinkBook notebook range with new Ryzen powered business options. ‘
Lenovo’s ThinkBook range is headlined by the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2i, an update on last year’s ThinkBook Plus which brings back the secondary eink display. Lenovo has also introduced three new Thinkbook models, with the ThinkBook 13x i, ThinkBook 14p and ThinkBook 16p.
The new ThinkBook Plus Gen 2i is all about the E-ink display. For the new model, Lenovo has increased the size of the display to 12”, as well as offering better refresh rate.
The productivity side of the E-ink display has also been improved with a new user interface and intuitive access to information. You can even add in windows apps to the E-ink display.
Also on-board is the new ‘garaged’ pen for note taking on the display. You can also charge the Gen2i with a wireless charging mat.
Lenovo says the laptop will be Evo Certified, meaning it will be powered by the latest 11th Gen Intel Core processors, and include WiFi 6, Thunderbolt 4 and come with all day battery life. Lenovo is also including Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support.
Lenovo says that the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 i will be available in Australia and New Zealand from May 2021, with local pricing to be confirmed.
If the E-ink display does nothing for you, the ThinkBook 13x i offers the same attributes as the Thinkbook Plus Gen 2i in terms of design and power.
You get the same Intel Evo platform options, as well as Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support and it’s powered by a 53-watt hour battery.
You’ll be able to lay hands on the ThinkBook 13x i in Australia and New Zealand from July 2021, with local pricing to be confirmed.
Lenovo has also introduced the Thinkbook 14p and 16p, with 14-inch (2.8k resolution) and 16-inch (2560×1600 resolution) displays.
The laptops will be powered by the latest AMD Ryzen mobile processors, and offer users options with up to 32GB of RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD and more than 10 hours of battery life. Additionally, the ThinkBook 16p will offer the latest NVIDIA discrete mobile graphics.
Lenovo has placed the fingerprint reader in the power button for the 14p and 16p making for a more user-friendly experience, or you can use the IR Camera with Windows Hello Smart Login.
Lenovo says the ThinkBook 14p will be available in Australia and New Zealand from June 2021, and they’ll share local pricing closer to launch.
The Legion gaming line is headlined by the inclusion of the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 H-series Mobile Processors, some of the first laptops in the world. Lenovo is also offering the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000 Series GPUs for a mobile gaming package that’s going to be hard to beat.
Lenovo has announced four new models in the Legion line, the Legion 7, Legion Slim 7, Legion 5 and Legion 5 Pro.
The Legion 7 and Legion 5 Pro will offer the world’s first 16” QHD (2560 x 1600 pixels) IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The panels are tuned for gaming with 3ms response time and support for NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync with Dolby Vision and VESA Display HDR 400 support.
The Legion 5 Pro available in Australia from April 2021, starting at AUD $2,849 2021, while the Legion 7 will be available from March starting at AUD $3299.
Lenovo will also offer the Legion Slim 7 with a 15-inch display, offering a new thinner profile – the thinnest in Lenovo Legion History – and a new Black colour way.
At this stage Lenovo Australia hasn’t given any pricing or availability information for the Legion Slim 7, but we’ll keep an ear out.
If you’re after more options, the Legion 5 will satisfy gamers with either 15-inch (165Hz), or 17-inch (144Hz) 1080p resolution displays in 16:9 aspect ratio. The laptops come in two choices of colour: Phantom Blue or Stingray White.
Lenovo is still confirming availability and pricing for the 17-inch model, but the 15-inch model of the Legion 5 will be available in Australia from May 2021, starting at AUD $1,999.
