LG updates webOS with modern viewing habits in mind

As the pre-CES announcement’s continue, LG is next up with the introduction of the latest version of it’s TV operating system webOS for the 2021 range of LG TVs.

Featuring across LG’s OLED, QNED Mini LED, and UHD TVs, the new webOS 6.0 is aimed at offering viewers an “enjoyable and intuitive content discovery experience”.

With our viewing time now spread across a huge range of streaming services and apps, it’s ever important to make finding the next thing you want to watch easier.

Featuring both Google and Alexa support, webOS 6.0 on LG TVs is aimed at the global market – particularly America where Alexa is dominant.

But it’s the home screen that is the biggest change – a full screen of content is now shown, with related content and preferred content all at a glance.

The latest “Magic Remote” also features hot keys for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.

In recommending content to you, the TV learns from your viewing experience, and the new “Next Picks” feature looks at your preferences to find more content you would love.

Boss of LG Home Entertainment Park Hyoung-sei said “The latest version of our user-friendly open TV platform webOS 6.0 represents the most significant update since we first introduced webOS in 2014,”

“With the new edition of webOS, LG is demonstrating its commitment of offering services, products and technologies that respond to the needs and wants of our valued customers.”

We’ll learn more about LG’s 2021 models in the week ahead, before their local launch here in Australia in a few months time.

EFTM’s coverage of CES 2021 is supported by Hisense, Samsung and Powered by Telstra 5G.
