Sony launches 2021 Bravia XR TVs with Google TV and Gaming ready

Days out from the biggest tech show in the world all the big secrets are coming out early with Sony joining almost every other brand by announcing their TV range today.

The new Bravia XR Televisions feature a mix of both LED and OLED technologies with most of Sony’s point of difference held under the hood.

Sony’s “Cognitive Processor XR” is the brains behind the new XR TVs. This image processor takes a new approach to image analysis using Artificial Intelligence to replicate the way humans see and hear to ensure the focal point of the scene is enhanced.

The company describe this, saying “While conventional AI can only detect and analyse picture elements like colour, contrast and detail individually, the new processor can cross-analyse an array of elements at once, just as our brains do. By doing so, each element is adjusted to its best final outcome, in conjunction with each other, so everything is synchronised and lifelike – something that conventional AI cannot achieve.

The highlights from the XR range include the headline grabbing introduction of Google TV.

This is the new “Android TV” which can be found already inside a Chromecast with Google TV. The whole new enhanced interface is smart and ready for any viewer of streaming or online services.

Additionally, the XR range all feature HDMI 2.1 compatibility. This is aimed at gamers with the latest generation consoles allowing for 120fps, Variable Refresh Rate, e-ARC and more.

Hands-Free voice activation is available on a range of models, while the new models also feature Netflix Calibrated Mode which offers studio quality Netflix shows.
