Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker now officially available in Australia

Smart speakers have been around for a while now but in Australia the options outside of those made by Google and Amazon is very limited. Now the Xiaomi smart speaker has officially arrived on our shores giving Aussie more choice for their smart home control.

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker is powered by Google Assistant and promises to offer a top quality product at a great price, like so many of Xiaomi’s products do.

The Mi Smart Speaker allows you to do all the usual things that you would with a Google Assistant smart speaker and includes “an integrated Chromecast” to enable you to connect all of your devices. Of course any Google Assistant compatible product in your smart home will be able to be controlled with the speaker.

The speaker is equipped with 12W of sound power provided by two internal speakers producing decent quality sound. Design-wise it is very similar to the Sonos One speakers and can be placed anywhere in your house without looking out of place.

More than one Mi Smart Speaker can be paired together for surround or stereo sound and it also supports Bluetooth 4.2 so can be paired as a Bluetooth speaker if required.

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker is available now at mi-store.com.au and PC Byte for just $99.95 — if you are interested PC Byte have it currently on sale for $69.95.
