OPPO announce the Find X3 series, their 2021 flagship devices

OPPO have this evening announced the long awaited successor to their hugely successful Find X2 Pro, the Find X3 Pro.  Alongside the Find X3 Pro they have also introduced two other members of the Find X3 family, the Find X3 Neo 5G and the Find X3 Lite 5G.

“OPPO is known for developing and delivering innovative products and the new Find X3 Series pushes that to a whole new level. With the Find X3 Pro 5G, we wanted to help customers bring colour to life, giving them the tools to capture and see 1 billion colours on a device that not only performs but exudes style and elegance.”

OPPO Australia Managing Director Michael Tran

OPPO Find X3 Pro

The OPPO Find X3 Pro comes packed with everything you could want in a phone.  Powered by Qualcomm’s best smartphone chipset, the Snapdragon 888, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage the Find X3 Pro offers high end performance that we have come to expect from OPPO with their flagship smartphones.

The display in the Find X3 Pro 5G brings a new premium display – even better than the industry leading display in last year’s flagship.  The massive 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 92.7% screen to body ratio and 120Hz refresh rate is capable of displaying 1 billion colours bringing true-to-life colour accuracy.  It is HDR10+ certified promising a pleasant experience when consuming media on device.

The camera hardware is also packed to the brim with dual 50MP Sony IMX 766 sensors – one a wide angle and the other an ultra-wide angle lens.  The camera module also consists of a 13MP telephoto lens which supports 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom and a 3MP fixed focus microlens.  The front-facing selfie camera is a high end 32MP.

Of course in 2021 the hardware is only half of the answer when it comes to smartphone videography.  The Find X3 Pro delivers 10bit image and video processing to produce high quality video with wider dynamic range and colour depth.  OPPO have also included a new Cinematic Mode which brings 4K imaging and a broad dynamic colour range offering full manual control over ISO, white balance, shutter speed and focus.

Keeping the feature packed Find X3 Pro running all day is a 4,500mAh battery which can be charged using OPPO’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge Technology and their new 30W AirVOOC Wireless Flash Charge.  Having experienced both of these you will never accept anything less after using either of these.  As you would expect for the flagship the Find X3 Pro supports all the high end standards including Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 (ax) along with a variety of Wi-Fi protocols.

The Find X3 Pro is not a small phone as you would expect with that 6.7-inch display – it comes in at 163.6 x 74.0 x 8.26mm and weighs 193 grams.

OPPO Find X3 Neo and Find X3 Lite 5G

Find X3 Neo 5G

As you would expect the star of the show was the Find X3 Pro but there were other notable performers in the Find X3 Neo 5G and the Find X3 Lite 5G.  These two more affordably-priced offerings sport a 6.55-inch and 6.4-inch OLED display respectively with both screen-to-body ratios at 92%.   The displays are 1080P displays with support for a smooth 90Hz refresh rate.

Both smartphones offer a quad rear camera with the Neo packing a 50MP Sony IMX 766 wide angled sensor alongside a 16MP ultra-wide lens, a 13MP telephoto lens which supports 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom, and a 2MP macro lens.  The Lite 5G’s quad rear camera is made up of a 64MP rear camera, an 8MP ultra-wide angled lens, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP mono camera.  Both phones sport a 32MP selfie camera.  The Neo 5G and Lite 5G promise to produce decent images with the Neo 5G rear camera set to be just a small step below the flagship Find X3 Pro.

Find X3 Lite

The Find X3 Neo is driven by last year’s best Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 865, and also incorporates 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage.  It’s 4,500mAh battery will support their 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge but no wireless charging.  There is also support for Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.2.

The Find X3 Lite, the younger and cheaper sibling of the three is powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 765G chipset making it still a powerhouse of a phone.  Combine that with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a 4,300mAh battery which supports the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge and you have a great value-for-money smartphone.  It also supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6 (ax).
