LG returns to the Australian market with gram laptop range

After announcing their new range of laptops at CES, LG has today announced their official return to the Australian laptop market, with the local launch of the LG gram notebook range.

For their Australian launch, LG will begin selling the LG gram with either 14, 16 and 17-inch displays. LG has built the gram notebook series for the Intel Evo Platform – a certification from Intel which starts with the laptop using their 11th Gen Intel Core processor with Iris Xe Graphics and also providing a minimum of a full days use amongst other things like Thunderbolt 4 and Wifi 6.

The LG gram range will use high quality IPS displays for the notebooks. These colour accurate displays cover 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space which is great for creators. The displays are mounted in the laptop with ultra-narrow bezels and use a hidden hinge design which achieves a pleasing 90% screen to body ratio.

As with their mobile phones, LG understands that accidents happen – so all the LG gram laptops carry a Milliatry Spec – MIL-STD 810G – rating. The Mil Spec rating takes the laptops through a number of tests including drop and temperature tests as well as ingress protection for liquids. Overall, it’s a great thing to see on a laptop.

The body includes a redesigned keyboard and touchpad which have been enlarged to allow for easier typing and control, all without compromising on the portability of the units, which size up at 16.8mm thick, for the 14 and 16-inch and 17.8mm for the 17-inch. LG says that the elevated key stroke on the gram keyboard – ‘at 1.65mm helps relieve fatigue in hands, and the wide touch pad matches the 16:10 display ratio creating uniformity in design and comfortable control even without a separate mouse’.

Getting down to the nitty gritty, the range starts with the LG gram 14 (14Z90P) featuring a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution display. The LG gram 14 will  be available in silver with 256GB of storage, or in white with 512GB. The laptop will be powered by an Intel core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM with a 72Wh battery.

The LG gram range will be price from RRP $1,799 to $2,999 depending on the configuration, with units set to arrive at local retailers, Amazon Australia and lg.com/au this month.
