Sony announces the SRS-XB13, a portable compact speaker with punch

Sony has announced a new addition to their portable speaker line-up with the compact and durable SRS-XB13.

The extremely tiny XB-13 features Sony’s EXTRA BASS for that punchy bass along with a Sound Diffusion Processor to allow expansion of the sound into any space. If that sound is not enough for you can pair two of them together for wireless stereo sound.

Being a wireless speaker you would hope it has a decent battery and the Sony SRS-XB13 has exactly that with a battery life of 16 hours of music playback with battery life information now projected to your phone so you know exactly when to charge it.

The XB13 is also dust and water resistant allowing for use anywhere you want thanks to its IP67 rating. The speaker also has a microphone so you can take phone calls wirelessly through it as well.

Pairing is a breeze thanks to support for Google’s Fast Pair technology — you will receive a prompt on your Android phone once you have turned on the speaker. The XB13 can also be charged using any USB-C cable.

The Sony SRS-XB13 will be available in Australia from early April for $89 in black, taupe and light blue colours. Keep an eye out for it if you like to listen to your music out and about.
