Amazon ups the ante with faster, more powerful Fire TV Stick 4K Max available to pre-order

Amazon is announcing a new entry in their streaming TV range with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max launching in Australia, and around the world from today.

Priced at $99.00, and available for pre-order from today, the new Fire TV Stick 4K Max offers a few updates on the Fire TV and Fire TV 4K, now offering improved Wifi 6 support, a faster processor and more memory on-board.

The updated Wifi 6 support does of course require you to have a Wifi 6 compatible router to take advantage of the speed improvements. It’s a nice little addition though if you do have a compatible router, the Apple TV 4K with Wifi 6 starts at $249 AUD, while Google doesn’t offer Wifi 6 support on any of their Chromecasts.

While you need a router for faster Wifi, you do get all the performance updates of the new quad-core 1.8GHz processor and 2GB of RAM, which should smooth out any performance issues seen previously.

You also get support for 4K UHD, HDR, and HDR10+ streaming, as well as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Max will let you stream content from the big streaming services including Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV and Paramount+, as well as local streaming services such as Stan and local broadcasters including ABC iview, 10 play, 7plus, 9Now and more. You can also listen to songs, playlists, live radio stations, and podcasts through services like Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and TuneIn.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Max can be pre-ordered from Amazon and JB Hi-Fi from today for $99 with units due to ship out from October 8th.
