WHOOP introduce the improved WHOOP 4.0 tracker along with WHOOP Body, next level wearable tracking

Not long ago we reviewed the WHOOP 3.0 fitness band.  Different from other fitness trackers, the Whoop band provides much more detailed and in-depth information and that’s it — there are no notifications, no music, no time, and no on-wearable apps.  Instead, they focus on providing the relevant information you need to get the best out of yourself in the gym and in competition.

Now WHOOP are set to take their performance band to the next level with the release of the WHOOP 4.0 band along with WHOOP Body with Any-Wear Technology — sports wear that allow you to wear your WHOOP 4.0 for continuous data collection across multiple locations on the body.

WHOOP 4.0

The new WHOOP 4.0 24/7 fitness and health coach still “tracks key physiological metrics across recovery, sleep, training while providing personalised recommendations and actionable feedback.”  The new WHOOP is 33% smaller than the third generation with a new sensor array and algorithms for improved accuracy and more features such as blood oxygen and skin temperature insights.

New features with WHOOP 4.0 include:

  • Sleep Coach with Haptic Alerts: WHOOP 4.0 is engineered with haptic alerts that members can set to wake them up through gentle vibrations at the optimal time based on their sleep needs and cycles.
  • New Feature – Pulse Oximeter: The upgraded hardware is equipped to calculate blood oxygen levels (SPO2) to help members unlock daily health insights.
  • New Feature – Skin Temperature Sensor: WHOOP 4.0 can now measure skin temperature and provide members another layer of knowledge about their bodies.
  • New Feature – Health Monitor: Members can now track live heart rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability in one view. The Health Monitor also allows members to easily download and export 30 or 180-day trends of these metrics into a PDF that can be shared with a coach, trainer, PT, PCP, or physician.

The charging battery pack has been upgraded as well with the new version now waterproof allowing members to charge on the go no matter what they are doing.  The battery within the WHOOP 4.0 is also upgraded to provide five days of battery life in a smaller form factor.

“I’ve been thinking about this technology for more than a decade, and I can promise you that this is the most innovative product we have ever released,” said Will Ahmed, WHOOP Founder & CEO. “We’ve always aspired to develop wearable technology that is either cool or invisible. With the launch of WHOOP 4.0 and WHOOP Body, we have accomplished both.”

WHOOP Body

WHOOP Body features their Any-Wear technology which combines technology with performance fabrics with the WHOOP 4.0 integrating into the garments enabling the sensor to collect accurate data from areas including the torso, waist, and calf.

The Any-Wear technology is available in two collections — the training collection with sports bras, compression tops, leggings, shorts and athletic boxers and an intimates collection which includes bralettes and everyday boxers.  WHOOP Body is only available in combination with WHOOP 4.0.

So where can you buy all this WHOOP gear?  The WHOOP Body and accessories can be purchased from shop.au.whoop.com but to get the WHOOP 4.0 you will need to sign up (at the same website) to WHOOP for $25/month (minimum cost) to receive it for free. Current WHOOP members will receive first access to upgrade to the all-new WHOOP 4.0 at no additional cost.
