JBL unveils Quantum Gaming range alongside new earbuds and Bluetooth speakers

There’s a lot of new updates coming to the brands we love at CES, and one of those is JBL who’ve announced their latest series of Bluetooth speakers and consumer ear buds this week.

On the speaker front, JBL has announced three new models, the JBL Pulse 5, BoomBox 3 and Partybox Encore, while on the earbud front they’ve announced the Live Pro 2 buds, as well as a new range of Quantum Stream branded audio devices for gaming.

Speakers

For those looking to update their bluetooth speakers this year, JBL is offering two very portable options, the JBL Pulse 5 and BoomBox 3 and a third option, the Partybox Encore which can really spark up a party with a wireless digital microphone included.

The JBL Pulse 5, just like the Pulse 3 before it, includes 360° immersive sound with LED lights you can configure through the paired app. The speaker now comes with Bluetooth 5.3 for improved wireless connectivity and an IP67 rating (IPx7 on the Pulse 4) with 12 hours of battery life. 

The JBL Boombox 3 on the other hand includes a new 3-way speaker system which includes a ‘racetrack-shaped subwoofer’ as well as two mid-range drivers and two tweeters. This new setup means ‘deeper bass than its predecessors’ says JBL, and ‘intense clarity and even more powerful sound than before’.

JBL is also introducing the JBL Partybox Encore. The machine is portable, with up to 10 hours of battery life, but still packs a lot of sound inside with up to 100W output.

While not as obvious as the Pulse 5, the Partybox Encore also has LED lights that can do strobe and club lighting, as well as sync to the music beat. t’s also IPX4 rated so it can get splashed without you having to worry about it.

EarBuds

JBL has announced the Live Pro 2 wireless earbuds with up to 40 hours of playback – 10 hours in the earbud; 30 hours from the charging case which you can charge wirelessly.

The earbuds include six microphones for isolating noise and wind and support Google Fast Pair to get you connected faster and you can of course speak to your choice of either  Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa assistant while on the go as well.

The buds have touch controls, and are IPX5 rated, so they can take a splash or sweat it out with you at the gym.

They look pretty nice and will come in blue, black and white for €179.99.

Quantum

JBL is fleshing out their gaming offerings this year at CES with the Quantum line, offering four new products, the Quantum TWS earbuds, Quantum Stream condenser mic and two over-ear headphones the Quantum 610 and 810.

Quantum TWS

The Quantum TWS are first up, offering true-wireless gaming earbuds with spatial surround, True Adaptive Noise Cancelling and Ambient Aware. There’s also six beam-forming microphones on board for excellent sound quality.

JBL is including a USB-C dongle with teh Quantum TWS earbuds, letting you connect to your gaming devices with a low-latency connection. You can also dual-connect using the USB-C dongle, letting you connect to your ‘preferred gaming device via USB-C dongle, plus a Bluetooth connection on a mobile device so they never miss a call’.

JBL says you’ll get 24-hours of battery life from the TWS buds, that’s 8 hours from the buds themselves with 16 additional hours stored in the charging case.

Quantum Stream

The Quantum Stream is JBL’s first foray into USB Microphones. The microphone includes dual 14mm Electret condenser with 24bit and 96kHz sampling rate.

The mic includes two selectable voice pick-up patterns, letting you isolate a single voice or include many. 

The Quantum Stream comes with a universal mounting solution and stand which is reversible for 360-degree audio pickup.

There’s also a mute-button with indicator light and volume control on the mic for controlling your voice directly.

Quantum 610 and 810

JBL has also released the Quantum 610 and 810 over-ear headphones, both with JBL QuantumSURROUND and DTS Headphone:X 2.0.

The gaming headsets include a ‘voice-focus beam’ flip-up boom microphone for chatting online, which can be pushed out of the way when not in use.

The headphones are wireless, with the Quantum 810 using 2.4G Wireless and Bluetooth, while the Quantum 610 connects with 2.4G Wireless. There’s decent battery life on both models, with the Quantum 810 including 30 hours, while the Quantum 610 packs in 40 hours.
