Google I/O 2022 announced for May 11th with a return to Shoreline Amphitheatre

After a virtual event last year and a canceled event in 2020, Google has announced that their annual developer conference, Google I/O is returning to Shoreline Amphitheatre this year as a live event.

The event will take place over May 11th and 12th, with a keynote expected to kick things off in the early hours of May 12th here in Australia. Google I/O will be held in front of a limited live audience, however Ina Fried from Axios confirmed that the in-person audience will consist of Googlers and partners. 

The good news is that Google will again be streaming the entire event for free. To access the conference online you’ll need to register via the Google I/O registration page, but it’s free to sign-up.

People signing up will be able to add sessions to their virtual conference itinerary – once it’s released which will give us a much better idea of what to expect. As it stands we do expect Google to expand more on the Android 13 Developer Preview announced last month, as well as offering more info on Wear OS, Chrome, Smart Home, Maps, Search and more. 

We’ll be tuning in remotely again for Google I/O 2022, so stay tuned for all the announcements.
