New-look MG ZS electric car revealed – launching in July

While Tesla is the dominant player in the electric car market in Australia, the number 2 is MG with their popular ZS EV SUV. And now, a refreshed design is landing in Australia launching from $46,990

That’s the same price they launched the car at for Pre-Sale in Australia in 2019, but when it hit the market in 2020 it was actually $43,990 drive-away, so the new price is a big bump up for Aussie buyers.

There will be two grades of MG ZS EV available with the higher spec “Excite” model starting at $49,990.

The front end is where the bulk of the design changes are evident, with a more closed off grill and sleeker looking front end and light design changes.

MG’s Australian CEO Peter Ciao said “Australian and New Zealand customers appreciate that the MG ZS EV is leading the way in affordable EV motoring,”

“We trust that our new ZS EV will grow that legacy. It offers more technology at a price that will allow everyday Australians to switch to electric motoring without compromise.

“It is the next step in MG Motor’s journey of making EV easy for everyone.”

Both variants have a 51kWh battery, providing up to 320km of range – not huge in the EV sense, but utterly suitable for 95% of car owners in Australia. Pair that with new at-home charging options MG are launching and they are really creating the perfect EV ecosystem for Aussies.

Inside is a 7″ digital dash, and 10.1 inch infotainment, with Apple CarPlay, while on the outside you’ll get 17 inch alloys and those new headlights are 21 module LED’s.

MG’s “Pilot” system includes driver safety aids, including Intelligent High Beam Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Lane Keeping, Speed Assistance System and more.

The company is urging pre-orders, offering $500 toward the MG ChargeHub for the first 500 vehicles pre-ordered.
