ASUS shows off three new 16″ ExpertBook laptops and a Smartband with ECG

After announcing their latest OLED series in Australia this week, ASUS is also showing off a range of new devices at IFA this week. At the show, ASUS is showing off three new 16” ExpertBook series workstations, as well as their latest wearable, the ASUS VivoWatch 5 Aero.

ASUS has announced three new mobile workstations with 16″ displays at IFA this week, the ExpertBook B6 Flip, ExpertBook B5 and ExpertBook B5 Flip. 

ExpertBook B6 Flip

The ExpertBook B6 Flip is a mobile workstation aimed at power users, with ntel’s 12th Gen Core HX-series processors up to a core i9-12950 Hx CPU and NVIDIA RTX A2000 graphics powering the 16-inch, 120 Hz display which can be swivelled on the 360° hinge offering a powerful mobile solution. 

The unit will be offered with up to 128 GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM and up to 4TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. There’s a 90WHrs, 4S1P, 4-cell Li-ion battery inside to keep you running all-day.

The laptop includes a wide array of ports, including RJ45 network, USB-A, HDMI and USB-C (Thunderbolt 4) to allow for excellent connectivity in a wide range of applications. 

For security, there’s a smartcard reader, as well as an IR capable camera with Windows Hello support and a fingerprint reader on the power button.

ExpertBook B5 and ExpertBook B5 Flip

Following up is the ExpertBook B5 and B5 Flip, also coming with 16” displays and powered by Intel vPro 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1270P processors and up to Intel Arc A350M discrete graphics.

The ExpertBook B5 will come with a 16” panel, with a choice of IPS LCD or OLED panel, while the ExpertBook B5 Flip offers a 16” OLED panel. 

The main difference between the two is the form-factors, with the B5 using a clamshell design, while the B5 Flip includes a touch display and  360° hinge offering more versatile use options, as well as a garaged stylus on-board.

VivoWatch 5 Aero

ASUS has also unveiled their latest smart band, with this latest offering being billed as ‘ the world’s first health smart band with fingertip measurement sensors’.

The smartband has an ECG and PPG enabled sensor for ‘measuring pulse transit time, heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep tracking and real-time health data and continuous health information’.

The information is presented in the ASUS HealthConnect app and users can also get personalised tips based on habits and health tracking metrics from the ASUS HealthAI app. 

For those who enjoy exercising outdoors, there’s built-in GPS, as well as G-Sensor for tracking your movement even without a smartphone.

There’s nine different sports modes included, for tracking jogging, swimming, cycling, treadmill, dancing, yoga and more. You can also get call and text notifications on your wrist and use the band as a remote shutter for your camera. 

Availability

At this stage we’ve not seen any pricing or availability dates for the new ExpertBook models, or the new VivoWatch 5 Aero so we’ll update as soon as ASUS announces some local information.
