Apple puts prices up on Music, TV+ and Apple One

Aussies are digging deeper into their pockets for subscription services with Apple putting up prices on their Apple Music, Apple TV+ and all of Apple services “Apple One” subscriptions as of today.

The new pricing for Apple Music puts it above the price of Spotify for the first time, giving a market advantage to the early mover Spotify though you really can’t rule out a price rise there, especially given Apple is citing increased licensing costs as part of the reason for the rise.

Apple say “The subscription prices for Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple One will increase beginning today. The change to Apple Music is due to an increase in licensing costs, and in turn, artists and songwriters will earn more for the streaming of their music. We also continue to add innovative features that make Apple Music the world’s best listening experience.

With that said, the Apple Music service is remarkably bigger and better than when it launched, now offering some 100,000,000 songs and new features like spatial audio, lossless audio and one hell of an algorithm for recommending music.

On the TV front it was a slow start for Apple TV+, but you have to acknowledge a far bigger slate of content now on the platform or in production, though still not rivalling any of the other services. Apple say “We introduced Apple TV+ at a very low price because we started with just a few shows and movies. Three years later, Apple TV+ is home to an extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment from the world’s most creative storytellers.

The new prices are as follows:

Apple Music

  • Individual plan: Previously $11.99/month. Now $12.99/month
  • Family plan: Previously $17.99/month. Now $19.99/month

Apple TV+

  • Previously $7.99/month. Now $9.99/month

Apple One

  • Individual plan: Previously $19.95/month. Now $21.95/month
  • Family plan: Previously $25.95/month. Now $28.95/month
  • Premier plan: Previously $39.95/month. Now $42.95/month
