With just a couple of weeks left until CES, Lenovo has pre-announced a slew of new devices ahead of their main presser in Las Vegas. To start with, Lenovo has unveiled its latest ThinkPad X1 laptops and Think branded monitors and accessories. There’s also new IdeaPad laptops and an IdeaCentre desktop as well as a new Flex 3 Chromebook and a new Android power tablet as well.
There’s a new focus on renewable materials on the new range of ThinkPad X1 machines, which this time around includes the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11, ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 and ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3.
The new range of ThinkPad X1 laptops all feature recycled materials in select components. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 includes 90% recycled magnesium in the palm rest and 55% recycled aluminium on its bottom cover, while the ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 features 90% recycled magnesium hybrid in the palm rest and bottom cover. Lenovo also says that all ThinkPad laptops also qualify for Lenovo’s CO2 Offset Service.
In terms of specs, the new ThinkPad X1 laptops are designed on the Intel Evo platform and feature the very latest generation of up to Intel Core i7 processors with Intel vPro and run Windows 11.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 and X1 Yoga Gen 8 can also be configured with up to 64GB of LPDDR5 RAM for users who frequently conduct memory-intensive tasks.
In terms of availability, you’ll see the ThinkPad range landing on Australian shores in May next year. Lenovo Australia has advised you’ll see the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 starting at $2,999, while the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 will start from $3,399 and finally the Thinkpad X1 Nano Gen 3 will start at $3,999.
At CES Lenovo is refreshing their range of Lenovo monitors with the ThinkVision VoIP Monitors offering integrated monitors with HD cameras, built-in microphones and in-built speakers in 27-inch and 23.8-inch sizes, as well as the new ThinkVision Mini LED P27-pz30 (27-inch) and P32-pz-30 (31.5-inch) powered by mini-LED.
TheseThinkVision Mini LED range feature 1,152 dimming zones to minimise the halo effect and offer improved colour contrast with deeper blacks and brighter lit areas. These monitors offer a range of features including USB-C or Thunderbolt support with the option to daisy chain up to two UHD monitors.
The ThinkVision Mini LED range includes excellent connectivity with three Type-C, four Type-A, and two HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as Ethernet and DP ports – as well as the option to charge your smartphone at 15W, or 140W for other devices including laptop charging.
The eco-conscious design includes post-consumer recycled materials throughout to minimise their environmental impact, and offer plastic free packaging which qualifies for Lenovo’s CO2 carbon offset service.
The ThinVision VOIP monitors offer two display sizes 27-inch at QHD resolution or 23.8inch at FHD with the ThinkVision T27hv-30 at 27-inch and ThinkVision T24mv-30, both of which include USB-C suport, or at 23.8-inch the ThinkVision T24v-30 is a more budget friendly option with USB-B upstream.
All three monitors haven’t been confirmed for the Australian market at this stage, but we’ll hear more from Lenovo when they’ve sorted out local launch details.
For those wanting fantastic professional grade displays, the ThinkVision P-Series monitors are EyeSafe Certified 2.0 and come in two sizes: 31.5-inch (ThinkVision P32p-30) or 49-inch (ThinkVision P49w-30).
The ThinkVision P32p-30 is a 3-side borderless display with 4K UHD resolution while the ThinkVision P49w-30 jumps to a whopping 49-inch with double QHD resolution panoramic view.
Both displays use IPS technology and offer deep blacks and realistic colour performance with Thunderbolt 4 support offering fast data transfer through a single cable.
Again, Lenovo Australia hasn’t confirmed local availability or pricing, but we’ll hear more when the information is available.
Lastly are the latest additions in Lenovo’s L-Class monitor portfolio, with the 27-inch L27i-40 and 23.8-inch L24m-40 – both of which are primed for remote use.
The L27i-40 offers 3-side near edgeless viewing and comes with dual integrated 3W speakers, with the IPS display capable of covering 99% sRGB colour gamut. The L24m-40 offers similar performance with colour performance and integrated 3W speakers, adding on power delivery up to 75W.
Lenovo Australia advises that both these new L-Series monitors will be available in Australia from April, with the L27i-40 starting at $279, while the L24m-40 will start at $329.
Lenovo will be also be showing off five new performance-driving and portable IdeaPad laptops at CES with either 14-inch and 16-inch screen sizes and powered by Intel Core or AMD Ryzen processors.
First up are the will include IPS displays in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and be available in two colours: Arctic Grey and Frost Blue. The laptops will come configured with either AMD Ryzen or Intel Core processors with and up to an NVIDIA GeForce Next-Gen Laptop GPU.
The laptops will of course be powered by Windows 11 with an FHD IR camera and Time of Flight sensor to support Windows Hello login.
The new 16-inch Ideapad Pro 5i and Ideapad Pro 5 will include an expandable SSD storage slot allowing for more data storage. The 16 panel included will be 16:10 aspect ratio at QHD+ resolution and have a fast refresh rate up to 120Hz. The displays will come with an excellent colour representation covering 100% of the sRGB colour space.
At this stage, only the IdeaPad Pro 5i with 16-inch display has been confirmed, with Lenovo aiming at July 2023 launch with pricing starting at $2,199. The rest of the series is still awaiting local pricing and availability to be confirmed.
Lenovo will also be offering new portable, slim, and lightweight IdeaPad Slim 5i and IdeaPad Slim 5 laptops including a new larger screen size as well as a new OLED display.
The IdeaPad Slim 5i and IdeaPad Slim 5 gen 8 laptops will also come in both 14-inch and 16-inch displays, with the 16-inch model offering an IPS display up to 2.5K resolution, while the 14-inch model introduces a new FHD OLED display with up to 2.2K resolution. Both will be powered by the latest Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 7000 processors with Intel or AMD integrated graphics.
The new IdeaPad Slim 5i and IdeaPad Slim 5 models will include an upgraded FHD infrared camera offers more accurate imaging, as well as introducing a physical privacy shutter.
There will be three colour options for the Gen 8 IdeaPad Slim 5 and IdeaPad Slim 5i with a choice between Violet, Cloud Grey, and Abyss Blue.
Lenovo has advised that the IdeaPad Slim 5i in 14-inch and 16-inch display sizes with Intel Core processors will be available from July 2023, with the 14-inch model set to start at $1,299, while the 16-inch model will start at $1,499. The 16-inch AMD Ryzen powered Ideapad Slim 5 will be available from July 2023 for $1,299 while the 14-inch option is waiting for local pricing and availability to be confirmed.
For those looking for untethered productivity, the 8th gen IdeaPad Flex 3i Chromebook will introduce a new, larger 12” display size with updated Intel N100 or N200 Processsors.
The Flex 3i will of course include the flexible hinge allowing the device to be used as either laptop or tablet, with a tent mode in between.
Lenovo are pushing the Chromebook Flex 3i for video conferencing with improved audio that includes two user-facing speakers tuned by Waves MaxxAudio, as well as an option of HD or FHD camera which includes a physical shutter, as well as a designated mute key for improved privacy control.
As well as updated processors, Lenovo says the IdeaPad Flex 3i gen 8 will also include Wi-Fi 6E and a long lasting battery up to 12 hours.
The IdeaPad Flex 3i Chromebook is due to hit Australia in July 2023 starting from $799.
Lenovo will also be offering the IdeaCentre Mini (1L, 8) as a desktop option for those interested in the IdeaPad line, offering ‘Small Package, Big Potential’ according to Lenovo.
With a sleek, compact design that can sit horizontally or vertically (with an aluminium stand included) on a desk, the new IdeaCentre Mini includes the latest Intel Core processors, two DDR4 memory chips, SSD storage8 up to 1 TB, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and ample ports with a Type-C Thunderbolt 4.0 port as well.
The chassis can further be customised with an easy opening case that allows users to access its dual-vortex cooling fan and memory chip to upgrade configurations or perform repairs when needed.
The IdeaCentre Mini (1L, 8) has been confirmed for Australia with availability starting from August 2023, and pricing starting at $1499.
For Android users, the Lenovo Tab lineup has been a fundamental mainstay in Australia for some time, offering a well priced alternative.
The tablet will include a 9-inch, 1340 x 800 resolution LCD display powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 Octa-Core processor and up to 128GB of on-board storage. There’s a large 5,100 mAh battery included which supports 15W fast charge and includes Bluetooth 5.1 support.
For watching movies or listening to audio on the move, the Lenovo Tab M9 will include Dolby Atmos spatial audio experience on its dual stereo speakers.
The tablet will come in both Arctic Grey and Frost Blue with an option for Clear or Folio cases to be bundled with the tablet.
The Lenovo Tab M9 will be available in August 2023 starting at $249, though Lenovo hasn’t confirmed the RAM and on-board storage – with three options announced ranging through 3GB + 32GB / 4GB+64GB / 4GB + 128GB.
Finally, Lenovo has announced a new USB Type-C Universal Dock offering single cable access to a dock with fast data transfers, dual 4K monitor support and “essential port expansion”
Lenovo advises that 40% of the dock’s external shell is post-consumer recycled content plastic, so it’s better for the environment.
At this stage, no local pricing or availability has been confirmed, so we’ll hear more if or when that’s made available.
