OPPO announce the new Find N2 and add the Find N2 Flip into their foldable smartphone lineup

OPPO at their Inno Day today has announced the second generation of its foldable smartphone range, introducing a flip phone to the foldable already ensconced in the series. The OPPO Find N2 and the OPPO Find N2 Flip offer a light in the hand feel with a new display design to minimise the crease of the fold.

OPPO Find N2

The OPPO Find N was a different take on the foldable smartphone with a much more compact folded phone and this year’s Find N2 looks to build on that with an even lighter foldable smartphone. At 233 grams, the black vegan leather version is the lightest horizontally foldable smartphone on the market.

At just 14.6mm thin when closed it offers the ability to easily fit into your pocket but offers a unique landscape display once opened. The full screen outer display is bigger than before with the bezels 47 percent smaller than the Find N making it an extremely attractive foldable smartphone.

The Find N2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with a 4520mAh battery which supports 67W SUPERVOOC charging technology.

OPPO continues with their Hasselblad partnership for tuning their camera system. The triple main camera system also has the MariSilicon X imaging NPU. The main camera setup consists of a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera that doubles as the macro camera, and 32MP RGBW 2x telephoto camera for noise reduction in portraits and high zoom imaging.

The OPPO hinge

As you would expect, the hinge has been re-engineered using industry-leading materials including carbon fibre and high-strength alloy used in the aviation industry. The new hinge is simpler than the previous generation resulting in a net reduction in weight of 42 grams from the first generation Find N.

The new hinge also offers a less-visible crease that is also two thirds narrower resulting in a much more immersive experience. The result of the new hinge when the Find N2 is close is zero gap, giving a much more aesthetic look to the folded Find N2. Oh, and the Find N2 can be folded up to 400,000 times without any negative issues.

The display

The inner 7.1-inch 1792 x 1920 pixel display offers a bright 1550 nits of peak brightness along with a 120Hz refresh rate but that doesn’t mean the outer display is a slouch. The outer display is a 5.54-inch 120Hz display with 1350 nits of peak brightness.

Look for OPPO to take advantage of their split-screen software in ColorOS 13. At this stage it has only been announced for a Chinese release but “more details about the global version of the Find N2 Flip will be available at a later date.” We expect it to land here sometime next year and will keep you informed when details arise.

OPPO Find N2 Flip

The flip phone has made a return to the vernacular and the mainstream in the last couple of years and OPPO hope to push it even more with the Find N2 Flip.

The Find N2 Flip has the largest cover screen of any flip smartphone on the market, offering users the ability to view up to six notifications at a time. This improved functionality of the display also allows the user to preview photos take with the main camera setup.

Offering an all-day battery life thanks to its 4300mAh battery, the Find N2 Flip is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ chipset. At this stage it is unknown if or when it will arrive in Australia but after an initial Chinese release it will arrive in “global markets, including most European countries, early next year.” You can be sure we will be keeping a close eye on any updates to this.
