Acer announces new Predator Triton 16 and lightweight Swift Edge 16 laptops

Ahead of the opening of Computex next week, Acer have announced their latest devices offering a new lightweight Swift Edge 16 with Wifi 7 support and Predator Triton 16 gaming laptop as well as a new Vero router.

Swift Edge 16

The new Swift Edge 16 offers a balance between performance and portability with a 16-inch 3.2K OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut support, and 0.2 ms response time  mounted in a magnesium alloy chassis.

The Swift Edge 16 isn’t lacking in power, using AMD Ryzen 7040 Series processors and up to AMD Radeon 780M graphics. You’ll be able to see options with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage for fast data transfers.

This latest model in the Swift range comes with support for up to Wi-Fi 7 allowing for future proofing when you upgrade. Physical connectivity includes dual =USB Type-A ports and USB 4 Type-C PD 65 W ports, a HDMI 2.1 port and a Micro SD card reader.

For security there’s a Microsoft Pluton security chip for additional protection against threats and a fingerprint reader with Windows Hello support for fast secure login.

With more work being done in video conferencing these days, Acer have included a QHD Webcam above the display with support for Window Studio Effects, which includes automatic framing, gaze correction, and advanced background blur. There’s also Acer’s Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) and Acer PurifiedVoiceTM with AI noise reduction built-in to the webcam which Acer says will ‘provide elevated video call experiences’.

Unfortunately at this stage, ACER Australia haven’t announced any pricing or availability locally for the Swift Edge 16 (SFE16-43) but we’ll update when they do.

Predator Triton 16

They’ve also announced the latest Predator Triton featuring the latest 13th Gen Intel Core processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs.

The laptop is packing some serious heat with up to 13th Gen Intel Core i9 processors and up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 2 TB PCIe M.2 SSDs in RAID 0 configuration.

There’s a 16-inch WQXGA 2560 x 1600 IPS display mounted in 16:10 aspect ratio and support for DCI-P3 100% colour gamut. Gamers will also love the 240Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 500 nits.

Of course with an RTX 4070 on-board, the Predator Triton 16 includes support for NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and NVIDIA G-SYNC offering ‘smooth, vibrant images, capturing all the intensity of the most visually demanding games’ says Acer.

There’s Wifi 6E Wifi support on-board and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a HDMI 2.1 port, a Type-C USB port with Thunderbolt 4, and a Micro SD card reader.

The Predator Triton 16 also includes a Windows Hello compatible fingerprint scanner.

If you like the sounds of the Predator Triton 16 at this stage no Australian release date or pricing has been released.

Acer Connect Vero W6m

Finally the Acer Connect Vero W6m has been announced as their first eco-friendly router made from PCR Materials and featuring a dedicated Eco mode.

The Vero W6m has a painted cobblestone grey finish, allowing it to ‘blend in with any office or home setup’ and offers tri-band connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E Tri-Band AXE7800 support and has a 2GHz quad-core processor.

The router also conforms to the security standards set by the European Commission’s Radio Equipment Directive.

The Eco Mode allows the router to optimise the router’s power consumption along with other connected devices by managing sleep time when not in use.

In terms of when you can get your hands on it, ACER Australia advised that availability and pricing in Australia is yet to be announced.
