Take a look at the eight cars in Matchbox’s 70th Anniversary collection

There aren’t many blokes who didn’t have a Matchbox car or a dozen as a kid, so it’s no surprise the brand has been around a while, but 70 years? What a remarkable milestone for the iconic little die-cast toy!

Reflecting on that legacy, Mattel, the toy company that owns Matchbox has released a stunning collection of eight vehicles in a single collectable box.

Best thing, it’s just $59 at Big W!

The eight vehicles span seven decades and come from all parts of the world.

Roberto Stanichi, who has the greatest title any kid could aspire to – “Global Head of Vehicles at Mattel” says “We are excited to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Matchbox and the trusted legacy this brand has imprinted on kids and collectors all over the world,”

“We look forward to continuing to redefine the die-cast category as we move toward a more sustainable future.”

Matchbox was conceived 70 years ago by English Engineer Jack Odell, he was a mechanic in the British Army in World War II – this little car revolutionised the toy car category with affordability and availability at it’s core.

But, realism, innovation and quality were always at the core of the cars and the brand.

Here’s each of the eight vehicles you can buy in this collector set:

Matchbox 70th Anniversary Edition Porsche 910
