Logitech G launches an upgrade to their flagship Console Wireless Gaming headset — the Astro A50 X

Building on the success of the Logitech G ASTRO A50 series console gaming headset, Logitech G has today announced their upgrade to it with the ASTRO A50 X Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset.

The ASTRO A50 X continues with a similar design to its predecessor but includes some new features as well. Combined with the Base Station, the ASTRO A50 X Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset features PLAYSYNC technology to allow for easy connectivity and switching between XBOX, PS5 and PC via a single button press.

The PLAYSYNC technology allows gamers to switch between the three gaming platforms mentioned above and when switching between XBOX and PS5, PLAYSYNC changes not just what is heard in the headset but also what is displayed on the TV. Switching to PC, PLAYSYNC just changes what is heard in the headset.

This is performed thanks to the Based Station and the Wireless headset and its implementation of HDMI 2.1 technology and 4K UHD TVs. After it switches what you see and hear, the result is not just high performance but also ultra-low latency video. Docking the headset directs all audio through to the speakers of the TV.

“Over the last decade, the A50 has become an icon in gaming headsets due to its focus on gamer-centric design, premium sound, and superior comfort and durability,” said Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G. “Our new A50 X elevates this beloved headset with an unmatched level of performance by combining the A50’s award-winning design with several new features and advanced technologies that truly revolutionise gameplay.”

Logitech G has also included their Pro-G Graphene audio drivers to create a supreme audio experience, something we were extremely impressed with in the Pro X 2 Lightspeed headset with “soaring highs, clear mids and rich bass.”

As you would expect from the name, Logitech G has included their LIGHTSPEED wireless technology for reliable connectivity. The base station also included Bluetooth connectivity to allow gamers to mix Discord chat with game audio or to listen to music while gaming.

The included mic is a high resolution 16 bit 48 kHz LIGHTSPEED microphone allowing for “unrivalled performance, clarity and quality” in the boom mic. Finer controls and sounds can be adjusted using the G HUB app to fine tune your audio to your own preferences.

The Logitech G – ASTRO A50 X Wireless Gaming Headset + Base Station is available for pre-order now for $749.95. from Logitech G, and will be available from major participating retailers, shipping in the first half of 2024.
