Withings launches new ScanWatch Nova – Luxury style hybrid analogue smartwatch

The Scanwatch Horizon was an outstanding watch release from Withings because they took the best of their hybrid smartwatch technology and packed it into a very stylish watch. The follow up to that was released today, with the ScanWatch Nova offering extremely powerful health scan features along with that luxury look.

In the style of a “diver” watch at a glance the ScanWatch Nova looks like any great analogue watch, but up close it hides all its secrets and powers – perfect for the professional not interested in a full-screen smartwatch experience.

Etienne Trégaro, Product Manager at Withings said “ScanWatch Nova makes continuous measurements autonomous and effortless with an extraordinary 30-day battery life. The splendid timepiece imperceptibly embeds a powerful health scan, with all the cutting-edge innovations to enhance your health, wrapped in a stylish aesthetic inspired by the timeless tradition of diver-style watchmaking”.

A picture tells a thousand words they say, and when you look at this watch you really just see the stylish premium luxury watch, most people would be hard pressed to know this has any smarts. But deep down, the ScanWatch Nova has some of the most advanced sensors available in a smartwatch of any kind.

We’re talking Medical-grade Electrocardiogram which will help detect potential heart anomalies like atrial fibrillation. Withings say nearly 2 million signs of AFib have been identified on ScanWatches since 2020. An ECG can be conducted on the watch in just 30 seconds.

Another health tracking feature is the indication of an onset of illness. By tracking fluctuations of day and night body temp, this TempTech24/7 module uses tiny heat flux sensors which measure the transit of energy along with highly accurate temperature sensors and combine that with heart rate and accelerometer calibrations for what Withings call “best-in-class” body temperature variation assessment.

In addition there’s respiratory system assessment, advanced sleep metrics, regular fitness and activity tracking and more.

All of which is represented in the WiThings app and can be shared across your phone’s Operating System health metrics too.

“With ScanWatch Nova, we have created an extraordinary heart health hybrid smartwatch that is as clinically powerful as it is beautiful. By seamlessly merging luxury design with the power of health technology, peoples’ health journeys can now be as stunning as they are effective.  It brings amazing, concrete health benefits such as a medical grade ECG and aesthetic allure in one astonishing package” said Eric Carreel, Founder and President of Withings.

The ScanWatch Nova will be available in Late January, following the launch in Early January of the ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light – two smaller hybrid watches announced recently with updated health tracking capabilities.

ScanWatch Nova will be priced at $799 in Blue, Black or Green.
