G’day mate — Samsung rolling out Galaxy AI support for the Aussie vernacular

Believe it or not but Aussies have a particular accent and dialect which can sometimes make it difficult for some of these digital assistants and features to understand.

In their commitment to “democratising mobile AI for all” Samsung have expanded Galaxy AI’s language support to three new languages (Arabic, Indonesian and Russian) and three new dialects (Australian English, Cantonese and Canadian French).

Later this year Samsung will be adding another four languages and a couple of dialects — Romanian, Turkish, Dutch and Swedish, as well as the traditional Chinese and European Portuguese.

TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics said “we will continue to innovate our technology and pioneer premium mobile AI experiences so that even more users are equipped with the right tools to unleash their unlimited potential.”

We all loved the new Galaxy AI features when we tested out Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 phones earlier this year. The features include:

  • Live Translate
  • Interpreter
  • Note Assist
  • Transcript Assist
  • Browse Assist

We are unclear how this will help Australian users but we assume it will be able to understand our vernacular better when it comes to its note and transcript assist.

The update has begun rolling out with the languages and dialects available as a language pack download within the Settings app of your Samsung smartphone.
