Microsoft is set on expanding availability of their Xbox cloud gaming service to anywhere, even without a console. Samsung TV owners have been able to stream games on their TV for a while, and now it’s time for Amazon FireTV stick owners to have some fun.
Microsoft and Amazon have announced that from next month, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can access and play hundreds of cloud-enabled games including Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Starfield, and Forza Horizon 5, directly through the Xbox app on select Fire TV devices—no console required.
To access your Game Pass Ultimate library you’ll need a Bluetooth-enabled controller, and, at this stage either a Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) or a Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) to get going.
Microsoft and Amazon say you can connect a variety of controllers, including the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, DualSense or DualShock 4 controllers among many.
There’s no exact date for when the Xbox app will begin appearing for download on the FireTV Stick, but with July just a few days away, we’ve got our controller ready, and you can check out all the games available on Xbox here.
