Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses update brings Meta AI features to Australia

The “Meta AI” features which launched in the USA only for owners of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are now available in Australia, and they are pretty bloody impressive.

Using your voice alone while wearing the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, you can now post to Instagram, and even get a verbal description of what you’re looking at.

An instagram story, posted via Ray-Ban Meta using my voice

Sounds stupid when I write it, but you need to think outside of your day to day life. And leaving aside the remarkable potential for those with low vision, think about this when you’re on holidays.

Look at a landmark, find out what it is, without taking your phone out and googling.

Take a look at an animal at the zoo, find out what it is.

I don’t really yet know why we need this, but the presence of this technology is exciting.

My testing of this, in very limited circumstances has blown my mind.

I looked at the loungeroom in the EFTM Office, it saw a “well lit living room with various furniture and decorations”

Then I turned and look at our Podcast Studio – and have a look at what it saw!

It certainly knows it’s Star Wars characters too:

At my daughter’s netball game – it didn’t just pick that it was sport, it knew Netball! (That’s a big deal, American’s have never heard of Netball)

You can see a log of all your requests in the View app on the phone paired with your glasses:

And if you’re thinking about posting to Social Media, it can even come up with a caption for you:

Pretty Impressive stuff.

You can also now pair your WhatsApp account so you can hear those messages as they come through

A decent set of updates
