Suzuki Jimny wait times in Australia, every variant listed

Wait times for the Suzuki Jimny have come down – but there is still a delay across most variants ranging from two to eight months.

And the company is on track to post record sales in Australia for the pint-sized four-wheel-drive this year.

Demand for the Suzuki Jimny three-door was so strong that Suzuki Australia was forced to pause orders last year to clear the backlog.

Orders have since resumed however there is still a wait – unless you happen to pick up a cancelled order and jump the queue.

The wait times shown below come from the boss of Suzuki Australia Michael Pachota during an interview with media at the preview drive of the Suzuki Swift Hybrid (information for which is under embargo until 14 June 2024).

Suzuki Australia says it has been blown away by the continued demand for the Jimny. It does not advertise the model, sales are based on natural demand.

“With the support of head office in Japan we managed to secure a large allocation of the Jimny five-door at the beginning of production for Australia, but that will change over time, which is why wait times are relatively short now,” Mr Pachota told EFTM.

“As our production allocation returns to normal we expect to see similar wait times evolve for both Jimny five-door and Jimny three-door.”

As with all estimates, Suzuki Jimny wait times vary from dealer to dealer, and depend on vehicle colour and transmission choice.

Data from Suzuki Australia shows the demand for the Jimny is evenly split between three-door and five-door variants.

Automatic transmission variants account for approximately 70 per cent of customer demand for the Suzuki Jimny three-door, and about 80 per cent of demand for the Suzuki Jimny five-door, the company said.

Suzuki Australia had anticipated demand for the three-door would decline when the five-door arrived, but in fact it has increased.

This means the Suzuki Jimny is on track to post record sales in Australia this year, possibly in excess of 9000 deliveries locally – shattering the previous Suzuki Jimny sales record of 5697 set in 2022.
