Amazon announces the new Echo Spot, five years after the original

Amazon originally introduced the Echo Spot to the world back in 2018 and since then has released quite a few different Echo devices of varying sizes and functionalities. Now they have updated the Echo Spot into their new design language so it is effectively an Echo Pop but with a clock/display.

The new Echo Spot is a smart device deisgned to sit on your nightstand with a customisable alarm clock and colour display that allows basic functionality such as setting alarms, viewing the weather or song titles.

As the devices are designed to sit front and centre beside your bed the display can be customised to various colourways to match your decor — orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal and blue. The device itself is available in Black, Glacier White, and Ocean Blue for $149AUD.

The device now has 1.73-inch front-facing directional speakers with improved sound quality for not just your favourite podcasts but also music from sources such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Audible as well, with the ability to power even the loudest songs.

“Customers care about the way they wake up in the morning and go to bed at night and the all-new Echo Spot will transform the way they start and end their day,” said Patrick Walker, country manager, Amazon Devices Australia and New Zealand. “Thanks to customisable clock faces, personalised designs, new alarm sounds and colourful visual animations, Echo Spot is the best smart alarm clock designed for any bedside table.”

The Echo Spot includes custom-designed clock faces, new visual animations and fun colours to display your Alexa requests at a single glance. the Echo Spot with visualise the response as well for certain queries such as weather with an illustration of the weather also appearing. As with most Echo devices now you can call family and friends on their Alexa-powered Echo devices once again.

For the privacy-minded folks, there is a microphone on/off button along with the ability to view and delete voice recordings.

The all-new Echo Spot is available now for 9 AUD at amazon.com.au/echospot, JB HI-FI, and in leading Australian retailers. It is available in Black, Glacier White, and Ocean Blue.
