Dyson announce the OnTrac headphones — customisable with best-in-class noise cancellation

Dyson is not the name you would expect when it comes to hi-fidelity headphones but with their first audio-only hi-fi headphones they have come out swinging. They have today announced their new Dyson OnTrac headphones which purportedly offer “best-in-class noise cancellation” while delivering up to 55 hours of battery life.

The Dyson OnTrac arrives in four colourways which include CNC Aluminium, Copper and Nickel and a Ceramic Cinnabar variant. In addition to these colourways you can customise your OnTrac headphones with outer caps and ear cushions with more than 2,000 customisable colour combinations available. The ear cushions promise to deliver long lasting comfort and a great seal with them crafted from “ultra-soft microfibre and high-grade foam.”

The headband houses the two batteries allowing for a balanced headphone experience and the multi-pivot gimbal arms mean you can adjust to your exact specifications. The batteries in the headband are capable of delivering 55 hours of battery life making them one of the longer listening hi-fidelity headphones on the market.

Jake Dyson, Chief Engineer “Dyson’s audio engineering mission is to preserve the integrity of the artist’s sound wave, free from interference. We also wanted to create a set of headphones that people would cherish, be excited by, and be proud of. With over 30 years of experience in aeroacoustics, we’ve mastered sound physics. By reducing noise through in-house anechoic chambers and expert engineers, we’ve applied and further expanded our audio knowledge to develop the Dyson OnTrac headphones. Our first over-ear audio only headphones deliver best-in-class ANC, exceptional sound quality, and all-day comfort through unique materials, design and customisation.

The custom ANC algorithm used by Dyson uses 8 microphones capable of sampling external sound 384,000 times a second to cancel up to 40dB of unwanted noise.

Each earcup houses a 40mm 16-ohm neodynium speaker driver to reproduce frequencies from as low as 6Hz up to 21,000Hz giving you not just the highs but that deep bass we all love.

Use the MyDyson app to monitor in-ear and external volume and change up the equalizer from 3 different presets.

The Dyson OnTrac headphones have launched globally on dyson.com.au/products/headphones/ontrac. They will be available to order in Australia from 28th August 2024 for RRP AU9 in four sleek colourways:

  • CNC Aluminium
  • CNC Copper
  • Ceramic Cinnabar
  • CNC Black Nickel

Custom colours for outer caps and cushions are also available at Dyson.com.au.
