The flipping great Samsung Galaxy Flip gets better with the 2024 Flip 6

A bigger battery, a better camera – Samsung has done just about everything required to make the Samsung Galaxy Flip 6 the standout flip form factor smartphone for 2024 – just about everything.

This thing is slick, sharp squared edges give it a premium feel and this year it comes in four colours – Blue, Yellow, Silver Shadow (Grey) and Mint. Those colours are now also represented rather boldly around the camera lenses on the outside of the Flip – to really hammer home the design choice.

And speaking of cameras, these are now S24 class cameras, a 50MP main camera and 12MP ultra wide, this is critical because in this day and age, camera is king, and if the Flip is a step down – why would you? Worry no more.

The outside screen has a range of new wallpapers which respond to the phone’s movement, making for a pretty cool party trick, and entertainment in those moments of boredom – sorry, Zen.

You can generate your own wallpaper based on AI Prompts, just one of many new AI features packing into the Flip6.

That includes the new interpreter mode for a conversation in another language, and on the closed front screen new AI generated suggested text replies – which are generated based on analysis of the last 7 messages in that thread. pretty cool!

The camera is also AI powered, allowing you to sit back from the screen when sat flipped open and have the Camera zoom in on you as the subject.

Powering all this is a 4,000mAh battery, that’s packing! And to cool it a 150% larger vapor chamber than the Galaxy S23!

When I said “Just about everything” required to make this the best Flip form factor phone? Samsung hasn’t cracked that full-screen front on the Flip. Motorola’s Razr is a dramatically larger screen, edge to edge while Samsung has a large border on all four sides. It may not make a marked difference in usage, but I think it makes a strong impression, and think Samsung need to go that way too.

Starting at 256GB the price will be $1,799 – and it goes on sale July 31.The 512GB version will be $1,999.

Additional Black, Peach and White colours will be available exclusively from Samsung.com store.

And, like the Fold6, Flip6 will come with Seven years of OS Upgrades.
