Motorola announces the new affordable moto g85 5G, available now

Motorola has today announced the first ever moto g with Motorola’s endless edge display, a premium ultrathin frame and Gorilla Glass 5 screen protection, the moto g85 5G.

The moto g85 5G is designed to elevate your everyday experience with its edge-to-edge design (no one wants large bezels anymore) with the curved display blending into the curved rear inlay and sides. The rear of the device is available in Olive
Green and Cobalt Blue vegan leather or Urban Grey in a PMMA (“a synthetic resin”) with the vegan leather offering a luxurious feel and look.

The display is a 6.7-inch pOLED with an FHD+ resolution that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to add that extra bit of durability. The display also offers a 120Hz refresh rate for that extra-smooth navigation and a brightness of up to 1600 nits.

Motorola has improved their cameras in recent years and this device looks set to continue that with a dual camera setup featuring a 50MP main camera with Quad Pixel technology and features a Sony LYTIA 600 sensor which is four times better at low light sensitivity. The secondary lens is an 8MP ultrawide lens and the selfie camera is a 32MP camera also with Quad Pixel technology for excellent low-light performance.

Spec-wise, the moto g85 5G arrives with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The battery promises long-lasting use with up to 34 hours of use thanks to the large 5,000mAh battery which supports 30W TurboPower fast charging technology.

The moto g85 launches with Android 14 and will receive jor Android OS update and three years of bi-monthly security updates

The moto g85 5G will be available in Australia from 15 August 2024, in Cobalt Blue and Olive Green with a vegan leather finish, and Urban Grey with a PMMA finish from:

  • RRP 9 at JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, OfficeWorks, Big W, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, Mobileciti, Amazon, and motorola.com.au. Availability of colours varies across retailers.
