Motorola has announced two new mid-range smartphones to their already extensive lineup, the motorola edge50 and the motorola edge 50 neo.
The two new devices include premium features including a camera system powered by Sony’s LYTIA sensor, moto ai and a durable design with IP68 and MIL-STD-810H ratings along with Corning Gorilla Glass display protection.
Kurt Bonnici, Head of Motorola Greater Asia Pacific said, “The motorola edge 50 and motorola edge 50 neo complete our carefully curated edge family, for 2024. With the addition of these two new devices, we are proud that our edge series has delivered a range of phones that re-define premium. With this franchise we are offering the latest and greatest through different prices and value propositions, catering to users looking to edge closer to the premium phone market.“
The included LYTIA sensor from Sony, when combined with moto ai image processing allows for excellent night photography with what motorola is calling a “leap in image quality.” The rear camera island includes a 10MP telephoto lens and a 13MP ultrawide lens and when you add in OIS support you get a solid camera system.
Video capture has not been left out either with moto ai enhancements such as Adaptive Stabilisation that will adjust to the user’s movements and adjusting the stabilisation as required.
Both displays are 1220P SuperHD displays with the motorola edge 50 including a 6.7-inch pOLED display while the edge 50 neo features a 6.4-inch pOLED display.
The phones promise all day battery life but with support for 68W TurboPower charging you can top up quickly in a jiffy. Both phones also support 15W wireless Qi charging which is a nice addition for a mid-range smartphone.
The edge 50 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Mobile chipset, 256GB of storage and up to 12GB of RAM you can be sure you will have enough power to run even the most intense games. The edge 50 neo on the other hand is powered by the MediaTek 7300 which is more power efficient for longer lasting battery while still supporting moto ai enhancements.
The motorola edge 50 will be available from 2 September, in a vegan suede finish in the colour Koala Grey, and a vegan leather finish in Jungle Green and the Pantone colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz.
The motorola edge 50 neo will be available from 12 September, in a vegan leather finish in the colours curated by Pantone; Poinciana, Lattè, and Grisaille.
