Ring introduces more new features and new subscription tiers with a twice-as-expensive Premium tier

Ring has introduced five new features to its security camera ecosystem and at the same time announced new subscription tiers for those who want the full Ring experience.

The new features include 24/7 Recording (select devices onlyRing Stick Up Cam, Stick Up Cam Pro, Indoor Camera (2nd Gen) and Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera only), Doorbell Calls, Video Preview Alerts and Extended and Continuous Live View.

24/7 recording is now available as part of the Ring Home Premium plan. It allows compatible wired and plug-in cameras to continuously record activity outside of motion zones to give you the full picture of what is happening at your home.

Doorbell Calls are now part of Ring Home Standard and Premium plans. Now when someone rings a doorbell, Doorbell Calls will ring your designated connected phone — as if you are receiving a video call. No need to check your notification and open the app anymore thanks to Doorbell Calls.

Video Preview alerts are now included in all Ring Home plans with customers receiving a short video clip with their push notification, allowing them to get a quick preview of the reason for the notification and make a quick decision to use Two-Way Talk or Live View.

Extended Live View and Continuous Live View allow you to view your camera feed for up to 30 minutes. A Ring Home Premium subscription will also unlock Continuous Live View for eligible customers and cameras.

Ring Protect is no more and instead, the new three subscription tiers are now:

  • Home Basic (AUD: .95/month, .95/year) which covers one doorbell or camera device
  • Home Standard (AUD: .95/month, 9.95/year) which covers all devices at your home
  • Home Premium (AUD: .95/month, 9.95/year) which covers all devices at your home

If you are a Ring customer head on over to their website to check out which plan suits you. For me, my Ring Protect plan defaults to the Ring Home Standard tier which I think will be enough for me for now. Go and make sure you are happy with your coverage now.
