If you think the police won’t turn their heads when you drive past them in this, you’ve got rocks in your head.

Renault Australia has confirmed the sexy as hell and retro inspired all-electric Renault 5 Turbo 3E is coming to Australia.

This is a hot hatch high performance electric remake of an icon from the 80’s and that it’s coming to Australia is huge for fans of the brand.

Renault Australia is taking Expressions of Interest , so whether they are thinking of bringing 50 or 100 in, you’ll want to get your name down fast.

We’re talking 500 horsepower to the rear wheels only, which is supercar performance, with a 0-100 time of 3.5 seconds.

The production version of this 2022 Paris Motorshow Concept car was unveiled just weeks ago, and boom – it’s coming to Australia.

It will be the fastest accelerating Renault produced ever.

Inspired by the petrol Renault 5 Turbo or the Turbo 2 hatches from the 80’s that’s the market of people who are now well into life, got a great job and thinking hmm, Might tell the wife I’m getting a new car. Boom, they come home in this.

No prices or timing yet, but – it’s coming.

“We have been working around the clock with head office in France to secure the Renault 5 Turbo 3E for Australia, and we finally locked it in just hours away from the start of the holiday shutdown period,” said Glen Sealey, the General Manager of Renault Australia.

“We know Christmas Eve is not the ideal time to make a major announcement like this, but we know our fans have been waiting for this news and we wanted to share it with them as soon as possible.

“We got the green light for this car overnight and we are not waiting a moment to get things moving.

“Renault head office in France has been very supportive of Australia. The fact we’ve been able to secure the Renault 5 Turbo 3E for our customers so soon after it was confirmed for production in Europe, shows how committed Renault is to the Australian market – with this and other exciting models around the corner.”
