Review: ECOVACS WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI window cleaning robot — no need to hunt for a nearby power socket anymore

At the EFTM office, I remain the main believer in robot window cleaners. That may be because I am the only one with massive windows, two terriers, and a lazy nature when it comes to cleaning.

I tested out the ECOVACS WINBOT NEO a couple of months ago and was impressed and converted. My main issue with the robot window cleaner was that it had to be plugged into an AC socket while functioning.

Now ECOVACS has a robot window cleaner with its own battery. Sure, the battery is in a decent-sized container, but that container also stores the spare mopping pad, the window cleaner itself, the power cable, and the washing fluid.

It is all kept in a very portable storage container though with a solid handle with a soft pad underneath the handle.  This feels really premium and makes storing the entire product and its accessories much easier and neater.

The WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI is an upgrade over the WINBOT NEO in several ways.  First, and most obviously, is the large battery attached which can provide up to 110 hours of continuous cleaning.

It also has new “Three-nozzle Wide-angle Spray Atomisation Technology” and “WIN-SLAM 4.0” intelligent planning technology to make your windows cleaner, faster.

The panel on top of the storage container and battery compartment offers one-touch buttons, and although they do have functions, I find it more accurate to open the app and get the cleaner to do exactly what I want it to.

When the window cleaner climbs up the window, the powering wire that attaches it to the battery in the compartment is constantly fed out of the compartment. At the end, it is fed back in with a single press of the button, just like the old vacuums of yesteryear.

When it came to cleaning, the W2 PRO OMNI offered a deeper clean than the NEO does, with its new spray nozzle making this possible along with a new setting in the app.  I definitely noticed a lot of dirt and grime coming off the window onto the mopping pad.

Our large alfresco windows are west-facing, so they see a lot of weather, and the dogs insist on climbing up on them, wanting in.  The WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI cleaned them really well, this time with a single pass or the deepest clean (heavy duty clean and a deep clean combined) the new robot window cleaner offered.

There were no issues with the cleaner falling off the window. It cleaned and actually did a deep clean faster than a standard clean with the NEO. If you are cleaning a long way off the ground (e.g., a second-story window) and the battery runs out of power, there is the safety cable to anchor it to the inside (just like the NEO—just don’t forget to attach it just in case).

Cleaning all three large windows, both sides still had over half of the battery left on the WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI so you can be sure you can clean and clean and clean to your hearts content. The battery indicator on the top of the storage container will let you know when the battery is low and needs to be recharged — using the plain old AC plug included in the container.

The W2 PRO OMNI includes a small bottle of window cleaning fluid, 230ml, which doesn’t seem to go all that far. It takes around 40ml to clean quite a few windows. I was able to clean both sides of three relatively large alfresco doors and still had some of the 40-50ml left over.

You can buy a bulk 1-litre bottle of it from the ECOVACS website for $37.50 plus $9.90 postage. That *should* last you a while.

The WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI from ECOVACS has further convinced me that robot window cleaners are a good thing.  They can certainly make your life easier, especially if you have large windows that are continuously getting very dirty.

You may be time-poor, and many of us are these days, and that is where the WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI comes in handy.  It allows you to do other things while the robot does its thing and cleans your windows.  Maybe just set an alarm so you don’t forget about it and it runs out of battery.

Speaking of battery, the included battery in the WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI means it is easier to clean windows anywhere in your house and you don’t have to worry about finding nearby power sockets.  Robot window cleaning made even easier.

The WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI is now available at The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi (online-only), Amazon and ECOVACS.com/au with a recommended retail price of $999 AUD.
