Google I/O 2025 will kick off on May 20th

Google has announced the dates for the next I/O developer conference, with the 2-day event set to start on May 20th in the US. As with previous years, the event will take place on-site at Shoreline Amphitheatre as well as being streamed online.

In their announcement, Google says I/O will start with a keynote on day one, which will be followed by ‘sessions, demos, networking opportunities and more’ – all of which will be available online.

As with previous years, we can expect to see an AI-heavy keynote featuring the latest in Google’s Gemini AI as well as all their web, search and cloud announcements.

Android will also make an appearance, though work on the next version – Android 16 – is well underway. Google launched the Developer Preview for Andoird 16 back in November 2024, with the first Beta now available for select devices if you want to try it out. If you want to wait, the full release is expected around Q2….conveiently around Google I/O time, though it’s still a little ambiguous.

Google hasn’t yet published the schedule for I/O, but it should be up soon on io.google/2025/, where you can also register your interest to attend in-person, or online.
