**Update with statement on local availability** OPPO launches the Find N5, the world’s thinnest book-style foldable

***UPDATE*** An OPPO spokesperson has told EFTM that: “We are always evaluating the needs and preferences of our Australian customers and exploring opportunities to bring the latest in cutting-edge technology to the market. While the OPPO Find N5 is not currently slated for an Australian release, our commitment to delivering innovative devices that meet the diverse needs of Australian consumers remains at the heart of our strategy. We’re excited to continue offering a range of products that push the boundaries of design, performance, and user experience, and look forward to sharing future announcements.”

Overnight, OPPO launched its latest foldable, the Find N5. It delivers the largest inner screen of any book-style foldable and is also the thinnest book-style foldable on the market.

The Find N5 looks impossibly thin, especially considering the tech it has jammed inside. At just 8.93mm thin when folded, it is approaching the thickness of standard smartphones (the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is 8.2mm thick) and is just 229 grams (the S25 Ultra is 218 grams).

Outside you have a 6.62-inch 20.7:9 LTPO OLED cover display and open it up and you are greeted with a massive 8.12-inch foldable LTPO OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Remarkable indeed. The crease on the inside is still there but is smaller than last year’s Find N3 making it almost unnoticeable. Both displays offer support for the OPPO Pen but that is not included.

“Find N5 unlocks the potential of folding phones, putting tablet and laptop experiences in our hands. It’s impossibly thin and light, and ColorOS 15 is precision-tuned to do more across two immersive displays, with AI-powered tools, and advanced integration with Macs.”

Pete Lau, SVP and Chief Product Officer, OPPO

The hinge is a Titanium Flexion Hinge, 26% smaller and 36% more rigid than that in the Find N3. The hinge’s load-bearing components are made using Ultra-High-Strength Steel for extra strength and peace of mind that the hinge will last for years.

OPPO has always excelled at batteries, and the Find N5 is no different. Its 5,600mAh battery is split between the two sides of the phone, somehow fitting in the phone’s 4.2 mm thickness when unfolded. The battery is a silicon-carbon battery, meaning that more power can be stored in less space.

Using the included 80W charger, the Find N5 supports SUPERVOOC 80W fast charging and also 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. OPPO has also included some form of Qi2 magnets to add the convenience of magnetic charging and mounting — finally someone (aside from Apple) has added it.

The Find N5 also includes impressive cameras. The rear camera offers a 50MP wide-angle camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The two selfie cameras are just 8MP — on the cover display and the inner display.

The Find N5 is also the world’s first IPX9-rated foldable and has IPX8 water resistance — yet it will survive a hit from a pressure washer.

OPPO has also included all its foldable software and the usual AI software we expect from smartphones these days. A nice addition this year it the Mac connectivity. With the O+ Connect app for Mac you can seamlessly share photos, videos and files to a Mac from your Find N5. The transfer also works in the opposite direction with the ability to pull files from your Mac as well. This can all be done remotely as long as both devices are online.

At this stage there is no Australian release planned but these things can change so keep your fingers crossed that we will see it land in Australia before too long.
