IdeaPad

IdeaPad Slim 3x

The new IdeaPad Slim 3x (15″, 10) offers ‘AI for Anybody’, says Lenovo, and it’s a great looking machine powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor offering up to 45 TOPS of NPU power and the Copilot+ PC experience..

There’s up to 24GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB M.2 gen 4 SSD on-board – with room for a second gen 4 2242 SSD later – and all powered by a 60Whr battery with support for Rapid Charge to get you up to 2 hours battery life from a 15 minute charge.

Lenovo says the IdeaPad Slim 3x will be hitting Australia late March/Early April, with pricing starting at $1299.

Concepts

You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts. I love the concepts that Lenovo rolls out each year, and this year is no different with an AI powered monitor and plug in stick, as well as a solar panel for your laptop – or just a whole solar powered laptop.

Yoga Solar PC Concept (POC)

This just tickles my fancy for some reason, adding a usable solar panel to your laptop lid just seems a no-brainer.

While it’s still just a concept, Lenovo says they’re working to offer a solar panel with an over 24% conversion rate using ‘Back Contact Cell’ technology, which moves mounting brackets and gridlines to the back of the solar cells, maximizing the active absorption.

Lenovo says that their innovations have allowed the solar panel to ‘absorb and convert enough direct sunlight in 20 minutes to power up to one hour of video playback on the PC’ – impressive.

As a concept, it’s still a sleek looking unit and weighs just 1.22 kg and has a slim 15mm profile – not bad with a solar panel in the lid.

Solar Power Kit for Yoga (POC)

This one offers you a bit of an option for powering your laptop in remote areas – where a power point isn’t an option. The Solar Power Kit for Yoga uses the same guided tech from the Solar PC concept on this standalone solar panel.

The panel powers a power bank which is attached to the rear, letting you power an array of devices, including your laptop.

AI Display with NPU Inside

A big question about AI is ‘but what is it for?’ and Lenovo are taking a swing with the AI Display with NPU (POC).

The display includes an NPU, which Lenovo says will assist in adapting ‘to the user’s movements by automatically rotating, elevating and tilting the screen to optimise viewing angles’ – that’s quite neat.

Lenovo AI Stick

This one’s also a bit of a new concept for an AI powered device, with the Lenovo AI Stick to add an NPU to their PC.

The Lenovo AI Stick offers up to 32 TOPS of AI processing power, connecting to a PC through a USB-C port. The AI stick can also be powered externally by a wall socket to engage the top AI processing.

Users will be able to access the Lenovo AI Now functions, which include a personal AI agent, as well as access to the Smart Connect 2.0 platform that connects the motorola and Lenovo AI eco-systems.

At this stage these are just Proof of Concept devices, so we won’t be seeing release dates or pricing (unless Lenovo wants to give us a surprise!). We may see some of these concepts incorporated into devices down the track, so stay tuned.
