Handheld gaming heats up with MSI announcing a new AMD powered Claw A8

Handheld gaming continues to heat up, with MSI announcing a new version of their Claw A8, now with the option of an AMD processor and more memory – as well as a new Polar Tempest themed edition of the Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition

MSI launched the Claw 8 AI+ powered by Intel Lunar Lake processors late last year, and at Computex they’re transitioning to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, with 24GB of DDR5 memory, a slight drop from the 32GB of RAM on the Intel powered Claw 8 AI+, and a 1TB M.2 SSD.

The new Claw A8 comes with an 8″ FHD+ resolution touchscreen that can offer up to 120Hz refresh rate and will come in two colours: white and lime green – and let me tell you, that Lime Green is vibrant in person!

Alongside the new Claw A8 AI, there’s also a new ‘Polar Tempest’ themed version of the Claw A8 AI+ with an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor and upgraded storage, now with a 2TB NVMe SSD and ‘features a stunning white finish with a glittering UV coating’.

There’s no pricing or availability information for the either the MSI Claw A8, or the Polar Tempest themed Claw 8 AI+ at this stage, but we’ll be updating when available.
